JOURNALISM COURSES

All U2Media journalism courses are in English and are tailor-made to suit the needs of participants. There is a wide range of possibilities: from group seminars to workshops and individual coaching sessions for both native and non-native English journalists. Refresher courses are also available.

Practical skills

The accent is on developing practical skills and improving writing style which is vital for all forms of journalism. Training covers subjects such as:

  • basic journalistic principles
  • writing for websites
  • interview techniques
  • writing news stories from press releases
  • composition, style, vocabulary
  • visual communication
  • headline writing

Experienced trainer

Abi Daruvalla is an experienced British journalist and trainer who has been based in Amsterdam for over 20 years. Her career spans writing, editing and commissioning articles for a variety of US, British, Dutch end Scandinavian newspapers, (trade) magazines, TV/radio and internet news services. These include Time Magazine, International Herald Tribune, The Independent, Het Financieele Dagblad and the Dutch news service ANP.

She is also a regular contributor to the international journalism courses run by the Dutch World Service Training Centre (RNTC) in Hilversum, the Netherlands.
